Common Questions
What retirement plans do you administer?
We administer Safe Harbor 401(k), Traditional 401(k), Solo 401(k), 403(b), Cash Balance, and New Comparability profit-sharing plans. We also design combo plans — such as 401(k) + cash balance — for high-income business owners looking to maximize tax-deferred savings.
How do I know which plan type is right for my business?
It depends on your company size, owner compensation goals, and employee participation expectations. Most small businesses with employees end up with a Safe Harbor 401(k) because it eliminates testing. Solo owners typically start with a Solo 401(k). High-income professionals often add a cash balance layer. We model scenarios during your free consultation to find the best fit.
Can I switch plan types without starting over?
In most cases, yes. We can amend your existing plan to change designs — for example, converting from a Traditional 401(k) to Safe Harbor, or adding a cash balance layer. We handle the plan document amendments, participant notices, and transition compliance.
What does flat-fee administration include?
Every tier includes 1:1 guided implementation, an assigned client success manager, annual compliance testing, Form 5500 signature-ready filing, contribution calculations, recordkeeper coordination, and IRS/DOL audit support. Professional adds plan documents and amendments, flexible plan design, tax credit filing assistance, and on-demand HR service. Premier adds 3(16) administrative fiduciary oversight, employee handbook maintenance, and a satisfaction guarantee.
Do I qualify for SECURE 2.0 tax credits?
If you have fewer than 50 employees, you may qualify for up to $5,000/year in startup tax credits for the first three years of your plan — potentially covering 100% of your administration costs. We assess your eligibility as part of our free plan design benchmark.
